Sasha Leinster - soprano

The vocal artistry of soprano Sasha Leinster has gained the admiration of audiences and critics alike. Known for her poignant portrayals of Cleopatra in Handel's Giulio Césare, Euridice in Orfeo ed Euridice by Gluck, and Monica in The Medium, she most recently performed the roles of Gilda in Rigoletto with Orchestra of Saint Peter by the Sea and Echo in Ariadne auf Naxos at Merkin Concert Hall. Opera News, in its review of this production, remarked: "There [is] much to enjoy in the sweet soprano of Sasha Leinster."

Among the highlights of her 2006/2007 season was a collaboration with famed Flamenco Dancer Pilar Rioja in Carlos Surinach's Romance, Oracion y Saeta at the Repertorio Espagnol of New York. She has also performed leading roles with Opera Company of Brooklyn, Temple Opera Theater, the Singers' Theater of New York, the Rockland County Choral Society, the Hamptons Choral Society, Ensemble du Monde and members of the Atlanta Symphony Orchestra. An accomplished concert soloist with orchestra, she has been featured in Bach's St. John's Passion and Magnificat, the C Minor Mass and Requiem of Mozart, the Messiah, the Fauré Requiem, and Rutter's Gloria.

This October she will sing Konstanze in Die Entführung aus dem Serail with Ensemble du Monde at the Allen Room at Lincoln Center, and Juliette in Roméo et Juliette on the Donnell Library Concert Series. Her 2008 engagements include a performance and recording of Richard Strauss' Brentano Lieder with the Sofia Philharmonic.
