Summer Schubert
Fest 2007
The German lied is one of the great genres in classical music, and Schubert is one of its foremost masters. Haydn, Mozart and Beethoven all composed many fine songs, but it was Schubert in his more than six hundred songs who achieved real perfection by unifying poetic text and music in greater depth, variety and emotion than ever before.
ARTIST World in collaboration with the Leschetizky Foundation launches its Summer Schubert Fest at Tenri Cultural Institute with three concerts that focus on Franz Peter Schubert's genius works for the piano programmed alongside some of his most imaginative lieder, allowing the listener to hear how the composer's large-scale instrumental works draw upon and compare with the lyricism that permeate his vocal music.
