
Joanna Curtis
Originally from central Florida, coloratura soprano Joanna Curtis is an accomplished recitalist and emerging operatic artist whose recent roles have included Pamina in Die Zauberfloete, Norina in Don Pasquale, and Amy in Adamo's Little Women. In June, she made her Weill Hall debut with the Pacific Repertory Ensemble.
An ardent advocate of contemporary music, Joanna recently performed the Robert Helps song cycle Gossamer Noons for soprano and orchestra as special guest artist of the 2007 Robert Helps Festival, receiving acclaim as a "fine young soprano" from The St. Petersburg Times. 2007 concert appearances have also included a featured appearance on the Summer SchubertFest at the Tenri Cultural Institute and her Merkin Concert Hall debut in a recital of songs by DuParc, Beethoven, and Helps. Joanna's concert repertory also includes the soprano solos in Handel's Messiah; Mozart's C minor Mass and Requiem; the Wagner/Palestrina Stabat Mater Bach's B minor Mass, Magnificat, and St. John Passion.
Joanna Curtis is a graduate of the London School of Economics and of Swarthmore College, where she received the Garrigues Scholarship for voice and cello. She has sung in the master classes of Dawn Upshaw and Sherill Milnes, and studied acting with Peter Jensen at the T. Schreiber Studio in Manhattan.
