Amy Synatzske - Soprano

American soprano Amy Synatzske has been praised for her beautiful and expressive voice. She has performed on both sides of the Atlantic in repertoire that ranges from the Baroque to the Contemporary.

Possessing a performer's soul and energy, this Texas native has performed numerous operatic roles. Recently, she was the Soprano in the Trio of Bernstein's Trouble in Tahiti, conducted by Michael Barrett, and covered the role of Violetta in La Traviata at Bel Canto at Caramoor conducted by Will Crutchfield. In July of 2004, she covered Elena in Gluck's Paride ed Elena for Bel Canto at Caramoor. In August 2003, she portrayed Juana III in the world premiere of Rage D'Amours by Robert Zuidam at the Tanglewood Music Center in August 2003. In May 2003, she returned to Natchez Opera to sing Pamina in Die Zauberflöte, after making her debut as Nedda in Pagliacci the previous season. In 2000, she appeared as Olympia/Giulietta/Antonia/Stella in the Liederkranz Opera production of Les Contes d'Hoffmann.

Equally at home on the concert stage, Ms. Synatzske performs frequently with Goliard Concerts, a chamber music ensemble in New York City. In November 2000, she performed Polish arias and songs at the Danny Kaye Playhouse celebrating the 75th Anniversary of the Kosciuszko Foundation. Her concert and oratorio roles range from soprano solos in Messiah, Bach's Mass in B Minor, Mendelssohn's Elijah to Vivaldi's Gloria and Duruflè's Requiem. She was the soloist in the world premiere of Les Hommes Vides by Mary Jane van Appledorn, which was recorded by Opus One.

An avid new music lover, Synatzske has most recently performed the song cycle "Journey" written especially for her by American composer David Eddleman at Symphony Space (October 2005). In July 2004, Synatzske participated in Centre Lyrique, a music festival in Pourrieres, Provence. She returned to Pourrieres, France to present a solo concert, Evening, on July 29, 2005, for L'Opera au Village Festival. She sang her debut recital at Merkin Hall in New York City, presenting Old and New Masters: A Song Recital, which featured songs of Wolf and Dvo?ak as well as contemporary vocal works by Zuidam, Oliver Knussen, and Yuka Takechi in February 2004. She performed the world premiere of Zuidam's Noche Oscura, which was written for her.

A graduate of Texas Tech University in Lubbock, Texas (as a Hewitt Scholarship Award recipient), she is the winner of several competitions, including study grants from the Licia Albanese Puccini and the Liederkranz Foundations. In September 2005, she was invited to participate in the Lyric Opera Center for American Artists Finals in Chicago.

Upcoming performances include appearances with the Goliard Chamber Music Ensemble for its Southeastern Tour, featuring music of Monteverdi, Purcell, Brantely (world premiere of "Looks of Love") and Puccini and a return concert in July 2006 in Pourrieres, France at the L'Opera du Village Festival.
