Pianist Brandt Fredriksen has performed at major venues and universities throughout North America, Europe, and Asia. His debut recitals were held in Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall, Gasteig Cultural Center in Germany, and Vafopoulio Hall in Greece. In 2003 he was selected by the U.S. and China Foundation to perform and give master classes throughout China, a tour that included Beijing, Shenzhun, Shanghai, and Shenyang.
An active chamber musician, Fredriksen is a performing member of the American Virtuosi Chamber Players. He has been heard frequently on radio and TV in the United States, Greece, and China, including live appearances on NPR, WQXR-FM with Robert Sherman, Greek national TV and Radio, and Beijing TV. Upcoming CD releases include the complete Brahms's sonatas for violin and piano with violinist Anton Miller. Recently, he has recorded the solo piano music for the documentary film, Sonia, produced by Lucy Kostelanetz.
As educator, Dr. Fredriksen has held professorships at Lawrence University in Appleton, Wisconsin, at Kent State University in Kent, Ohio and has been on the Associate and Pre-College Faculty of the Manhattan School of Music. Currently, he is Assistant Professor of Piano at Georgia State University, Atlanta, Georgia. He has also been a member of the piano ensemble coaching faculty of the New York Piano Competition sponsored by the Stecher & Horowitz Foundation.
A Munz Award recipient from The Juilliard School, Brandt Fredriksen holds a Doctor of Musical Arts from the State University of New York at Stony Brook, a Master of Music from The Juilliard School, and a Bachelor of Music from Indiana University. His principal teachers were Mischa Kottler, Flavio Varani, Charles Fisher, Nadia Reisenberg, James Tocco, Stephen Bishop-Kovacevich, György Sebök, Martin Canin and Ferenc Rados, as an exchange student at the Liszt Academy of Music in Budapest.
